🖐🏼 Practice: The Emotional Body Check-In

This 3-minute tool helps you slow down, name what’s present, and reset.

  1. Pause and gently close your eyes (if it feels safe). Take one slow breath.
  2. Notice your body:
    • Where do you feel tight, heavy, numb, or unsettled?
    • Is it warm or cold, still or tense?
  3. Name the emotion or sensation (without judgment). You can use phrases like:
    • “There’s tightness in my chest.”
    • “I notice a lump in my throat.”
    • “It feels like sadness, or maybe loneliness.”
  4. Breathe into that space and say: “This is allowed to be here. I am safe to feel.”

Even just naming the sensation gives your nervous system a chance to soften. This simple act of presence rewires your response to stress.
